05/09/06  Cubic Water-melons 05/09/06 The Produce Market in Novi Sad. Goods Flow
Great Britain is the very first European country to start mass sale of cubic water-melons.
This fruit has already reached British supermarket shelves. Cultivated in plastic transparent moulds – this unusually shaped fruit comes from Brazil. The shape change has no effect on its taste. Taking much less space during transport, in supermarkets and on markets – the cubic water-melons should have lower retail price.
The approximate price of cubic water-melons in London will be 5£. Last summer, in China as well as in Japanese cities Tokyo and Osaka – this fruit cost 90 USD.
Some farmers are successfully cultivating the pyramid-shaped watermelons (transport is not as easy as transport of cubic ones. But the visual effect, once the watermelon on the table, is stronger).
This non-standard-shape cultivating fashion has reached many countries – the United Arab Emirates farmers are cultivating cubic tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers…

This fair is becoming a tradition and since last year it’s under the patronage of Ministry of Agriculture.
The Fair gathers pepper cultivators, displays the agricultural mechanisation, agricultural chemicals, seeds, irrigation systems, agricultural experts.
This event is marked on tourist map of Serbia.
Rutevac is a crossroad of western and southern Serbia.
The facility of access makes the main regional road that goes through Rutevac, as well as a nearby highway road.
Its mild climate is excellent for vegetable cultivating, above all for traditional paprika. Local cultivators have traditional experience in producing paprika that used to (above all during 60ies) and is taking an important place in Serbian as well as Western European cuisine.
